PRESS RELEASE: British Chamber partners with JA Europe for the 2015 Leaders-for-a-Day initiative
The British Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce that it partnered with JA Europe for their Leaders-for-a-Day initiative. The annual initiative aims to give the recipients of the Entrepreneurial Skills Pass the opportunity to step into the shoes of business and policy leaders for one day. Leaders-for-a-Day provides young Europeans, who have completed entrepreneurship education programmes and obtained the Entrepreneurial Skills Pass certification, with the opportunity to learn from a top leader by shadowing him/her during an entire working day. As part of this certification process, the 36 selected candidates who already took part in the JA Company Programme at school and passed the examination of their business, economic and financial knowledge are offered the possibility of further opportunities to discover small and large businesses, top higher institutions and international organisations across Europe.
This is just a great initiative to be part of – both as a leader, and alongside so many members of the British Chamber. It’s straightforward and makes a difference. Thanks to all the companies who took part, and to JA Europe especially comments Glenn Vaughan CEO, British Chamber of Commerce.
Organised by JA Europe in cooperation with the British Chamber of Commerce, and supported by Accenture and Microsoft, this experience aims to inspire young people to be entrepreneurial and encourage mentoring between young people and experienced professionals.
On 14th October 2015, the leaders and young leaders met to share their experience of the day with the whole group. There were 36 young leaders from 14 countries with their leaders. This reception, kindly hosted by White and Case in Brussels was organised to showcase the future leaders of tomorrow.
Our members said:
It was a great privilege to host Vasco for the day. Out of his comfort zone in that he had a limited knowledge of the finance industry but he was insightful in his questions and eager to make notes if he found a concept that could relate back to his own experiences. I look forward to participating next year – Ed Read Cutting – The Fry Group Belgium
Being part of the Leaders-for-a-Day programme is a great opportunity. By supporting the skills development of future leaders and sharing their fresh perspectives on our rapidly evolving world, it is a win-win for all involved – Tom Parker – Cambre Associates
The British Chamber and JA Europe have put together a great initiative to develop young leaders. UCB was pleased to take part and support it – Xavier Hormaechea – UCB
