Health determinants

Over lunch, the priorities of the European Commission in the area of health determinants were discussed. The presentation included the prevention, factors and instruments addressing problems such as chronic diseases; the cooperation  with members states and their initiatives; information for consumers; the social approach to health threats; the distinction between prevention and management.

During the Q&A, the discussion focused on

  • alcohol strategy and stakeholder levels;
  • behavioural economics;
  • the way forward;
  • the creation of healthy environments; consumer choice;
  • evaluation of current strategy; understanding of food law.
